Tim continues our series, Sent Out By Jesus, thinking about what kind of recruitment ad Jesus might've commissioned when looking for his disciples and followers.
The role of being on mission for Jesus is likely to be dangerous, hazardous, and not well rewarded in this lifetime. So why would we sign up for that?

In Joel Snibson's first talk at St John's, he looks at our calling as followers of Jesus to be people of peace.
Jesus called his twelve disciples and gave them authority to heal and drive out evil spirits. Did these disciples feel ready and prepared to be sent? Simon the Zealot- an anarchist, and Matthew the Tax Collector- a public servant! An unlikely couple of people, and not exactly a dream team. But Jesus sends the unlikely - he sends us.

Tim Johnson encourages us to re-focus our hearts on mission, however that might look for you. Whether you're on an overseas mission trip or going to work or school, it's such an important way we can show the love of Jesus to people who don't yet know Him.

God's story is woven through time, spanning generations and generations, culminating in the birth of Jesus, through the Holy Spirit and a human mother - Mary. Mary and her cousin Elizabeth were entrusted with key parts of God's plan of redemption, and they fell to their knees in worship of God, trusting him because of the way he had worked in the lives of their people for so long. We as followers of Jesus are part of God's story too - will you trust him in the same way Mary did?
