You know in soppy rom-coms, and so-bad-they’re-good dramas, when the two main characters have an argument based on a misunderstanding? Like, the boyfriend sees his girlfriend hugging another guy, and gets really jealous and upset, only to find out much later that it was her brother? Maybe, like me, you yell at your TV at that point – JUST TALK TO THEM! So much drama and conflict, just because you couldn’t tell them that you’re upset, or because you’ve misinterpreted something.
Well Jesus’ teaching in this passage from Matthew 18 is a good lesson not just for writers of dodgy movies, but for all of us when we deal with conflict and sin.
Tim will unpack the passage for us, as we read from Matthew, chapter 18.

Childlike Faith || Jesus & Relationships || Matthew 18:1-14
Monday Jul 18, 2022
Monday Jul 18, 2022
Today we start a new series of talks, with our Associate Minister Joel kicking us off. We’ll be spending the next four weeks thinking about Jesus and Relationships. Joel today starts by asking the question “what is greatness”? In our bible reading that Karen is about to bring us, we see Jesus flip expectations of the answer to this question, throwing out what we might traditionally consider to be great.
If you responded as Joel prayed for the first time, that is amazing news. God’s word says that there is a massive celebration in heaven when that happens. Please tell someone that you’ve made that decision to trust Jesus with your stumbling blocks. Email me at andy@stjohnsdc.org.au, or reach out through our website. Myself or the other members of our staff team would love to help you take these next steps.

What’s the end of the Christian story? That’s what Wei Han is taking a look at today, as we see in the visions of the book of Revelation.
The great Australian dream is so different to the image we see in Revelation. The Christian Dream makes a huge difference in how we live our lives, living in the hope of Jesus Christ, and waiting the day when we sing those two songs of salvation and worship.

No Reconciliation Without Unity || NAIDOC Week || 2 Corinthians 5:11-21
Wednesday Jul 06, 2022
Wednesday Jul 06, 2022
Neville Naden from Bush Church Aid brings today's message.
There’s no reconciliation without unity. Secular reconciliation requires one person doing something for someone, and that person returning the favour. Biblical reconciliation though says that God has done everything required for reconciliation. We have relationship with God, meaning we are in relationship with each other as the body of Christ.

This talk was given on Reconciliation Sunday, during Reconciliation Week 2022. Reconciliation is all about restoring broken relationships, and Reconciliation Week seeks to highlight the broken relationships in Australia’s shared history between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.
We are Ambassadors of Reconciliation. As followers of Jesus, we are called to reconciliation. We have been reconciled with God through Jesus, and are compelled to take steps to reconcile broken relationships, both as individuals and as a society. We are one humanity, and one family. The Second Coming || Always Remember || 2 Peter 3
Sunday May 22, 2022
Sunday May 22, 2022
Are you waiting for something exciting? As followers of Jesus, we all are - his second coming. So far, Christians have been waiting 2,000 years, and there are certainly those who scoff at the idea of Jesus coming back. This isn't new though; as Peter writes in this passage, there were already scoffers scoffing just a few years after Jesus' death and resurrection!
Have your bible ready at 2 Peter chapter 3 as Kirk brings us the conclusion of our Alway Remember series.
